Many countries are lifting the stay-home orders, about 30 states in US are doing that and Italy is preparing to the “fase-2” the “second-step”.
But are we ready to reopen?
Is it time to do that?
Last February we had the first case of COVID-19 in Italy and also in US. But only in March both countries chose to lockdown. However, Italy locked-down the whole country, while in the US the decision depended to the single governors of each state.
The same situation is repeating now. About 30 of the 50 states in US are lifting the lockdown measures and Italy will do that on May 4th. But why this decision? Is it really time to reopen? These countries are living the same situation?
This will sound weird to you: but in these days I was following how the pandemic was faced by Italy and US. The way to face it was totally different!
For example, at the beginning, Italy close everything! On March 9th the life was something and on March 10th was another stuff. Yet, in US we didn’t have the same situation. I think, right now, in many states we are living already the “fase-2” that Italy is going to live in a week. Indeed, we can go out, wearing masks and keeping social distance, and many jobs are still closed. So far, instead, in Italy people couldn’t go out, the police were ready to stop the transgressors. Italians could go out only for groceries, drugs and medical issues. Why am I saying that? Because, I think Italy after two months of totally lockdown, maybe, is able to lift the restrictions.
But, are we ready in US?
We haven’t had a totally lockdown here, only New York City had it! We continue to have many new cases and I think this happened due to a lack of government’s leadership.
Trump downplayed the situation: the economy of the country has been considered more important than the life of the people.
We live in a country where it’s so difficult to step aside our freedom for the common good. We think that the freedom is an absolute and nobody can touch that! But what if, this freedom is killing us? What if, this kind of freedom isn’t the true freedom? What if, this virus is putting in crisis our picture of the freedom? Are you really free, when the society is falling apart, and you are thinking about your next vacations?
That’s the point! In the name of the freedom, between health and money the US government chose to don’t choose neither of them.
Don’t make a choice is a choice!
For this reason, now we have millions of unemployed and more than one million of cases in USA.
Although, I want to finish with some good news we had this week: the first one is about the vaccine, the Oxford University is testing it on humans and if it will work, we will have it about in September; the second one is about a drug that was tested in US and it seems it is working against Coronavirus. And last but not least, it’s scientific proven that who got the COVID-19 has the antibodies to don’t get sick again.

What time is this we are living right now?
Is it a time to reopen or a time to stay-home?
